Review: The Replacements (Bruno Johnson Series Book #2) by David Putnam
Summary & Review:
The writing is good. The story has a lot of turns and twists. The people in it are interesting. As the story goes on, the tension grows. It’s tough to put down the book. Some scenes take place in the past, when Bruno was a detective for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. It’s interesting to learn about his time as a police officer. After reading this book, you can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Around midday on a normal day, Barbara Wicks walks into his bar. She used to work with him and is now the chief of police for Montclair, California. Bruno is completely shocked. Is she there to arrest him and send him back to California? It turns out she’s there to ask Bruno for help because two kids have been kidnapped.
The kidnapper, Jonas Mabry, was a victim himself, and Bruno saved him when he was a child. Now Mabry wants stupid revenge: a million-dollar ransom, and he says Bruno has to risk his own life to get the money.
In this strange turn of events, Bruno goes back to California as a wanted criminal. He can’t turn his back on these kids, even though it could get him arrested and put his life in danger.
